Bio-Engeneered pets. OAX or REAL ?

Today i received an email from one of my cousins Lupita which contained detailed information about a company that sells mass-produced Bio-engineered pets, this company claims to have created a living pet that can be purchased as a toy that lives, breaths, feeds and bonds with affection to it's owner and it dies in a lifespan of 1 or 3 years depending on the model you purchase
My cousin appeared to be shocked at the fact the this people are playing the role of GOD, and it is something alarming certainly
So we decided to do some research on this...
The website in Question is www.GenPets.com . this website shows how its done and the look and feel of it seems to be really professional, so it can easily confuse people into thinking it's a real company selling real Gen-Pets. But we stumble across to the fact that you can not purchase this item at all.
So we digged deeper to find out the truth and this is what we found:
It Turned out these are actually sculptures (including circuitry and robotics) created by 24-year-old Canadian commercial artist Adam Brandejs. The artist explained that in conjunction with a 2005 exhibition of his work, the point of Genpets is to get the public thinking about the concept of bioengineering and how they feel about where that science might lead us: "I'm not against bioengineering, I'm simply hesitant towards where and how and by whom the technology will be used. " the artist said in an article published in snopes.com.
If you're still caught up on whether they're real or not, that's ok, a lot of people are, but that's not the point of the work. Slow down, stop, and think. Think about why it is that you probably, like most people seeing the work, find it highly disturbing on some level, and yet, still want to buy one. Why is it that you're so inclined to buy things, no matter what? And what is it that makes this concept so disturbing, or not disturbing to you? Consider both sides of the issue, and consider how we treat animals in farms, and pet stores today. How does that relate?.
As technology advances, we always have to be aware of the Moral issues involved in it, and try to do our best to not take part of the Inmoralarily of this world.
